Taking the family for a long vacation is great but, to avoid kennel fees, why not bring your pet with you? Pets are a part of the family, after all, and they can make the trip much more memorable. We here at Jeff Lungren Chevrolet have a few tips for traveling with pets to make your vacation one to remember.
- Toys – Like small children, pets tend to get bored on long road trips if they have nothing to do. That’s why it’s a fantastic idea to bring along a new or favorite toy they can chew on or play with for a few hours. Even if you forget, odds are there’s something to spare in your luggage!
- Vehicle – Smaller dogs will be just fine in a midsize or full-size sedan but larger animals might find themselves cramped. That can lead to restlessness and that’s not a good for anyone involved. For families with a larger pet, pick a slightly less fuel efficient crossover or SUV to create positive memories rather than negative ones.
- Driving – Like humans, pets need to take a break and stretch their legs. Unless your pet is used to long trips in the car, make sure to stop every few hours!
