While summer car preparations used to include replacing multiple parts, today it all comes down to checking and inspecting your vehicle. Even though you may not need to replacement as many parts, replacing fluids and taking care of vital safety concerns is still necessary for a safe road trip. Here’s how to prepare your car for summer from us here at Jeff Lungren Chevrolet.
- Oil – The most obvious and needy of the bunch, oil plays three vitals roles within the engine block. It lubricates, cools, and helps keep the engine clean. Failing to change your oil according to the schedule in your owner’s manual could be disastrous in the long run. The last thing anyone wants is for disaster to strike halfway to your vacation destination!
- Tires – Vital to both your safety and staying on the road, check your tires every month or so to make sure the tread is wearing evenly. If it isn’t, it’s time for an alignment. Make sure to check your tire pressure and look over the rubber for any abnormalities like bumps or bulges!
- Gas Cap – If you’ve been having problems with your “check engine” light, inspect the gas cap. If it isn’t properly sealed, the warning light will turn on. A fix is a simple replacement from your local dealership.
